an elegant afterlife
For this year’s WestEdge Design Fair, I engaged with the concept of beauty emerging from reinvention and recombination. Using several Habitat for Humanity pieces — the Italianate LaBarge mirror, the satinwood bowfront sideboard, the Imari plates, flat-top, double lock trunk, and French walnut pedestal table — I designed an emotional and artistic space. What began as an exercise in resourcefulness evolved into a space both unpretentious and quietly glamorous, wherein each object and picture was given a second life shaped by intention, creativity, and care.
